First Lady calls for partnership to improve healthcare First Lady Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has called for strong collaboration between institutions and government to provide quality healthcare to citizens. Speaking at the launch of Rotary Club’s 2018 Rotary Family Health Day's campaign, Mrs. Akufo-Addo said irrespective of a person's social setting they deserve the best in health care however government cannot shoulder the burden alone. She therefore commended Rotary for its initiative to provide fifty deprived communities across the country with free health screening. The 3-day health programme by Rotary intends to provide critical health services to 50 thousand under-served women, children, and families in the selected deprived communities across the country. They include Bukom, Teiman, Vitting, Sokode, Kotokrom and Glefe in Accra which was recently flooded. In her address, the First Lady spoke of the many interventions by government for quality healthcare, with the major ones being the National Health Insurance Scheme and construction of CHPS compounds in deprived areas. She said it is imperative for every citizen to support government. The Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Rotary Family Health Day gave details of the campaign. USAID, partners in the three day campaign assured of continuous partnerships to ensure access to clean water and sanitation.
