Martin Amidu Approved As First Special Prosecutor Parliament has approved the nomination of Martin Amidu as the first special prosecutor. The approval came after the House was presented with the report of the Appointments Committee by its Chairman Joseph Osei Owusu. Mr. Osei Owusu said Mr. Amidu's high standard of competence, forthrightness in answering questions and an in depth appreciation of the task ahead made him cut for the job. He said the nominee’s knowledge of the law and resolve to be above political colorization made him the right man for the job. Although a member of the committee, Suhuyini Alhassan Sayibu had initially voted against the nomination, he later rescinded his decision and thus a consensus decision from the appointments committee was put before the house, the MPs okayed the nomination.
