Government policies target job creation for teaming youth President Akufo-Addo has assured Ghanaians that the economy is on track and economic indicators show positive signs. President Akufo-Addo in his second State of the Nation Address said government is determined to put in place measures to ensure a sustained macro-economic stability to make the Ghanaian economy a nation beyond aid. The President said his government will put in place policies to ensure that unemployment is reduced. He enumerated some policy initiatives to be undertaken to create jobs as well as equip the youth to be productive. President Akufo-Addo says government will invest 200 million cedis in the sanitation sector in partnership with the private sector. He was however of the view that strict enforcement of sanitation rules will help resolve the huge debts accrued in the sector. The President said government is committed to equipping the security agencies especially the Police Service to ensure a secured environment for the economy to thrive as well as for the security of the population. On the activities of nomadic herdsmen which have created security concerns in some regions, President Akufo-Addo, pledged his commitment to a lasting solution. President Akufo-Addo indicated that the One Village, One Dam Project will kick off this year with about 500 dams identified across the country. He said government is also poised to improve aqua culture to reduce fish imports. In order not compromise the health of Ghanaians, the President stated that his administration has cleared the huge debts and arrears bedeviling the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, to enable efficient delivery of health services. He was quick to add that government is committed to improving the conditions of health workers to enable them to accept postings to any part of the country. President Akufo-Addo acknowledged that corruption has ripple effects on all aspects of the economy and if not tackled, can undermine the growth of the economy.
