North Korea to send highest level official ever to South Korea

North Korea is to send its highest ranking official to the South to ease tensions during the Winter Olympics.

North Korea's ceremonial head of state Kim Yong-nam, will lead a 22-member delegation to the South on Friday.

Athletes from both North and South Korea will march under one flag at the opening ceremony of the winter olympics.
 
The North's participation in the Games is widely seen as a diplomatic manoeuvre by Pyongyang.
