Investigation Into Robbers Murder In Police Custody Ongoing - Interior Minister The Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery, says investigations are still ongoing into the killing of two suspected armed robbers in Police custody in Kumasi. He urged the public to volunteer information so that all those culpable will be made to face the law. According to Mr. Dery, the two, Lukman Mohammed and Awudu Osman were arrested on the 5th of this month for suspected armed robbery. He said on November 7, whilst the Police were searching for weapons in the presence of the suspects at Sepe-Timpom, the suspects who were handcuffed individually escaped from the control of the Police, and to immobilise them, the Police fired at them. In the process, Awudu Osman died on the spot while Lukeman died on the way to the hospital. Mr. Dery who made the comments on the floor of Parliament cautioned the public to be balanced in their comments on the case. He said security agencies are working with the support of all stakeholders to make the country safe. The MP for Asawase, Mohammed Muntaka, said though the fight against armed robbery is a good one, security agencies must be mindful of the fundamental rights of people in order not to kill innocent people who know nothing about crimes they are accused of. He urged the interior Ministry to commission an independent body to investigate the case to bring finality to it. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
