GJA charged to crack whip on media houses with low remuneration for journalists

The Minister of Information Mustapha Hamid, has asked the Ghana Journalist Association to go beyond unionisation, and ensure that media houses that do not pay their workers well do so.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Ghana Journalists Association's President and other executive members in Accra, Mr. Hamid said the way journalists are being taken for granted does not augur well for the profession. 

Mr. Hamid also announced that UNESCO will next year hold World Press Freedom Day in Ghana.
 
He also pledged his commitment to see to the passage of the Right to Information Bill into law.

Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, Chairman of the National Media Commission, Kwesi Gyan Apenteng, called on the GJA to forge ahead in unity after an acrimonious election.

He said it is important that the GJA leadership make the organisation visible in the lives of its members.

President of the Ghana Journalists Association, (GJA), Roland Affail Monney stated that the GJA's unionisation is not a 419 scam adding that his contender Loyd Evans will be incorporated into the business fund raising committee of the association.
