Wa Airport to commence operations in 2018 Commercial operations at the Wa Airport will commence by the end of February next year after the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority installs a Navigational Aid and Containerised Control Tower. So far, the 2000-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway have been completed. Also completed is the rehabilitated and remodelled Terminal Building. Answering a question which stood in the name of MP for Wa Central, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, the Deputy Minister of Aviation, Kwabena Okyere Darko- Mensah said the runway, apron and landslide facilities at the airport are ready for daytime use only. He said further improvement on operational safety during the approach and landing phases, a Very High Frequency Omni- Directional Radio Range and a Distance Measuring Equipment will be installed by August next year.
