State of mourning declared as death toll in Iraq-Iran border earthquake hits at least 450

The Iranian Cabinet has declared today as a day of public mourning for the victims of Sunday night' devastating quake which hit Western Iran near its borders with Iraq. 

The Cabinet also sympathizes with the bereaved families as well as those affected in the fatal incident.

A huge rescue effort is underway looking for survivors trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings.

The quake is the deadliest in the world this year.

Based on the latest statistics, at least 450 people have been reported killed with more than seven thousand one hundred and fifty six injured in quake-stricken areas in Iran.
