Call for local languages to be prioritised Research indicates that industrialised countries were able to reach their level of development because they prioritize their local languages. A lecturer in English at the University of Ghana, Legon, Professor Kofi Anyidoho who affirmed this said, for the country to achieve its desired development, there is the need to pay attention to local languages. Professor Anyidoho however indicated that his call should not be misconstrued that the country should do away with English but that the local language must be used side by side the English Language.
