11th November, 2017 The Ghanaian Times calls for expedite efforts from the Ghana Police Service in tackling what it calls, horrific activities of the vigilante group, Invincible Forces, an affiliate of the ruling New Patriotic Party. The paper cites act carried out by the group during the vote to confirm the president's nominee of a District Chief Executive Officer for the Ada East in the Greater Accra Region, Sarah Pobee. According to the paper, macho men alleged to be members of the Force beat up innocent assembly members in the full glare and connivance of the police detailed to provide security. The Times describes the act as unacceptable under any democratic dispensation and must be condemned by all. Although the paper hails the Inspector General of Police, Asante-Apeatu for directing the Tema Regional Police Commander to identify and arrest those involved, days after the incident, it sees the call as somehow belated as the group has acted with impunity for too long.
