GNAT opposed to canning, other corporal punishment ban in schools

The Ghana Education Service, GES, will soon ban the use of canes and other forms of corporal punishment in basic and secondary schools across the country.
 
The policy dubbed" Positive disciplinary tool, will focus on building a safe and protective educational environment. 

But Speaking on GBC’s ‘Behind the News,’ the General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT, David Ofori Acheampong expressed surprise at the GES move.

He contended that those who are campaigning to ban canning and corporal punishment in schools have themselves been shaped by it.
 
The Chairman of the Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition, GNECC, Bright Appiah made some interventions to the debate.
