Nigeria urges UN probe into deaths of 26 female migrants

Nigeria has called for an international inquiry into the drowning of 26 women and girls attempting to cross the Mediterranean sea to Europe. 

The bodies of the victims, believed to be Nigerians, were brought on a Spanish ship to Italy where the Authorities are looking into how they died.

Initial investigations say all Twenty-three persons lost their lives when the inflatable ''dinghy'' they were travelling on sank.

The Foreign Ministry in Abuja says its mission in Rome puts the victims at ages between 14 and 18.
