NPA earmarks 35 more Gas stations for closure

The National Petroleum Authority, NPA, says 35 more Gas stations have been earmarked for closure.
 
The authority had already closed forty-three stations for flouting safety regulations. 

The Chief Executive of NPA, Hassan Tampuli, who stated this when he appeared before a Joint Committee of Parliament investigating the Atomic Junction Gas explosion said 34 of the 43 stations have since been reopened after remedying faults.
 
He disclosed that 299 LPG stations have since been audited.
 
Mr. Tampuli also entreated Parliament to review legislation governing activities of dealers of petroleum products.
  
According to the NPA, if legislation on petroleum is reviewed to punish recalcitrant dealers, they will be compelled to sit up.

Mr. Tampuli enumerated the criteria the NPA will henceforth use in issuing permits for the citing of new stations.
