Special Prosecution Bill to be passed before 2018 Budget reading 

The Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee of Parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim, says they are optimistic the house will be able to pass the Special Prosecution Bill before next year’s Budget is read in Parliament. 

Indications are that the 2018 Budget will be presented next week. 

He tells GBC’s Radio Ghana that though amendments to clauses to the Bill just begun, they are working strenuously to ensure the Bill is passed and funding for the office of the Special Prosecutor is captured in the budget. 

Mr. Ibrahim further said prosecuting corrupt officials must be based on meticulous investigation and so Ghanaians must be patient with government as it builds a case to prosecute public officials cited to have been involved in financial malfeasance.
