Seek regular screening for early detection of breast cancer – Health Expert

A Family Health Specialist at the Trust Hospital, Dr. Ruth Bernice Ashidam, has encouraged women to seek regular screening for early detection of breast cancer to avoid death.

She stressed that breast cancer is curable when detected early, therefore women should not fear to walk into any Hospital for screening.

Dr. Ashidam said this during a breast screening exercise to commemorate Pink October, at the Tema branch of NDK Financial Services in collaboration with the Trust Hospital.

Pink October which is observed yearly to raise awareness of breast cancer also enables the Bank to give back to society.

Dr. Ashidam said globally one-point-seven million women are diagnosed of breast cancer annually with about 28 percent losing their lives.

The Tema Branch Manager of the Bank, Phanuel Eli Fiamor, said the exercise is to help women in Tema to have their breasts screened to prevent breast cancer.
