TRAIN DERAILS AT TESANO, ACCRA

A passenger train heading towards Accra from Tema this morning derailed at Santana, Tesano in Accra. Some eye witnesses around told our correspondent that the incident occurred around 7:30 when the last coach got off the tracks. A heap of sand around prevented it from rolling over.

Some casualties were recorded and the injured have been sent to the Achimota Hospital and other health facilities around. There was no fatality.

The Unit Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) at Tesano Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Aboagye told our correspondent on location that the incident occurred whilst they were directing traffic but have since moved there to ensure that the situation is managed.
