23rd October, 2017 The Ghanaian Times commends the Ghana Police service, for instituting a fifty thousand insurance cover for every Police officer to cater for their children's educational needs, incase of any eventuality. The paper is not certain whether the service will continue to donate any amount towards the funeral of any officer with the introduction of the insurance cover. The Ghananian times calls for an additional fund to compensate families of a deceased officer in the line of duty. The Daily Graphic Describes the move by the IGP to institute a welfare package for personnel as laudable and refreshing. The paper says the package will transform and boost the morale of the police to carry out their duties in a dicplined manner. It urges the IGP not to rest on his oars but keep the personnel on their toes to deliver what is expected of them. The Graphic believes too many of personel do not discharge their duties professionally which makes road trafic offences common. The paper is of the view that unless dicipline is restored on the streets, the MTTU trianing will be one of many wasted efforts to bring sanity into the department and the entirety of the police service.
