Government to increase support for Universities

A National Research Fund will soon be established to boost research, provide funding support and promote research in Universities targeted at national strategic priorities. 

The Fund's Act which is currently before Parliament, will also be accessed by Private Universities across the country, to reduce their financial burden when passed. 

This was made known at the opening ceremony of the 2017 International Conference of the International Association of Universities in Accra. 

The Minister of State for Tertiary Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah again indicated that government will increase its support for private universities in accordance with the Act that set up the GETFUND.
