Cabinet Halts Construction Of New Gas And Filling Stations 

Government has halted the construction of all facilities intended to be used as gas or petroleum stations. This was contained in the new regulations by government on safe gas use following the recent explosion at Atomic Junction. 

The National Petroleum Authority will also inspect all gas stations and enforce existing regulations, while current licensing regime to ensure that only those with demonstrable capacity and competence engage in the LPG distribution business.  

The new regulation will allow the National Petroleum Authority to recruit 200 more safety auditors to join the Factories Inspectorate Department to check and ensure full compliance with safety standards and practices.

The new regulations require that safety protocols on fuel and gas use are reviewed.
