President Akufo-Addo’s Upper Regional Tour Successful – Mustapha Hamid The Minister for Information, Mustapha Hamid, has described the President’s two day tour in the Upper East Region as highly successful. He said the objective of the tour was to access for themselves what the immediate needs of the peoples are and how they can work together to address those immediate needs. He added that it was also an opportunity for the President to account to the people about what he has been doing in his nine months in office as the President of the country. According to him, the President has been able to explain to the people in the region about what he has been able to do within nine months in office and how he is committed in implementing the promises he made to the people in the region and the country at large prior to the 2016 elections. He mentioned Free Senior High School Policy, the commencement of One-District-One-Factory, part payment of the one-point-two billion Ghana cedis NHIS debt they inherited from the previous government, Capitation grants which has for the first time been paid promptly, National Identification Card, abolishing of the nuisance taxes, digital addressing systems among others as some of the achievements of the NPP administration so far. Speaking to Radio Ghana’s Samuel Ayammah after the tour, Mr Hamid said he is surprised about the claim by the previous government that most of the roads in the region have been worked on, stressing all the major roads including Bolga-Bawku-Pulmakom road are in a deplorable state. He said the NPP government will make sure that all the major roads linking market centres in the region are fixed to ease the movement of commuters and drivers. The Information Minister thanked the Chiefs and people in the region for the warm reception. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
