Reddish colour of River Nsukwao caused by chemicals, not blood - Police Police in the Eastern region have dispelled rumours that a river turned red in the New Juabeng Municipality because of human sacrifice. According to the police, the reddish colour of the stream was caused by chemicals used by some tie and dye users in the area. This morning, residents in the area were gripped with fear when they woke up to see the Nsukwao river changed its colour to red. For more than five hours the Nsukwao river, upstream from Nkuraken and Aboabo was red, making residents fear it was blood or human sacrifice for the upcoming Akwantukese. A team of investigators was immediately dispatched to the area by the Police Command. Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Eastern Regional Police PRO, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, said the investigators found out it was caused by chemicals used for tie and dye.
