US-Mexico border wall prototype construction starts

The US has announced the start of construction of eight prototype barriers for its border with Mexico.

The action is premised on a campaign promise by President Donald Trump. 

The Customs and Border Protection says four of the prototypes will be made from concrete, while the others will be constructed from other materials.

Its plan is to try out several sections of the wall near San Diego.
 
Mr Trump had promised to build a "big beautiful wall" between the countries.
 
The prototypes will be up to 30 feet high and 30 feet long and are expected to be completed within 30 days.
