Today is World Tourism Day

27th September every year is marked as World Tourism Day. 

Its purpose is to foster awareness among the international community on the importance of tourism and its socio-cultural, political and economic value.

The event also seeks to address global challenges outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to highlight the contribution the tourism industry can make in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year's celebration is on the theme “Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development".
