Free SHS: Sanctions meted out to 11 Head teachers described as severe The Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament, Peter Nortsu-Kortoe has described sanctions meted out to 11 headmasters for going contrary to the free SHS guidelines as too severe. Mr. Nortsu-Kortoe said since this is a new policy, there will be challenges with its implementation at this stage. According to him, the erring head masters should just have been cautioned. The Ghana Education Service Council sacked two Headmasters and interdicted others of their posts as a result of some infractions against the implementation guidelines of the free SHS. The action followed a meeting between the council and 19 Head Teachers in Accra. At a news conference to announce the decision, the Director General of GES, Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwah said the infractions include charging illegal fees and under declaring vacancies. He said investigation is underway and the necessary sanctions will be applied if they are found culpable. GBCONLINE ---DECRYPTED---
