The Daily Graphic says the implementation of the paperless system of clearing goods at the port must be implemented starting September 1. The Graphic says the system will help eliminate delays in clearing goods and above all kick corruption out of the port. The paper says there were similar initiatives by previous governments to stop corruption at the port but was met with resistance. It is therefore not surprising that this good initiative scheduled to start on 1st September is also facing the same protests by freight forwarders. The Graphic observes that the implementation of such new initiatives begins with challenges but the nation must scale the hurdles if it commits to make the new system work.

The Daily Heritage discussed the contradiction between the Agric minister and his deputy on the Fall Armyworms. It quotes the Minister as saying in parliament the 'fall armyworm has been defeated' only for his deputy William Quaitoo to contradict him. The paper says this pointless contradiction in the media must stop and calls on government to remain focused and deal decisively with the Armyworm invasion.
