21st August, 2017 The Ghanaian Times calls for more support for Sierra Leone which has been hit by a mudslide and floods disaster that claimed the lives of at least four hundred people and more than six hundred uncounted for. The paper says this is the time the blocs within Africa such as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Union (AU) should pull together their members to respond to the emerging humanitarian crisis in Sierra Leone. It said Africa must not always rely on the west for support in time of need. The Daily Heritage is alarmed at chieftaincy clashes in Oshiyie, a fishing community in the Ga South Municipality. It says many residents have fled the community for safety, after reports of the death of one person and another in critical condition due to clashes in the community. The Daily Heritage therefore calls on the security agencies to move quickly to the area to protect lives and property. The Today News Paper backs the call by President Akufo-Addo for Ghanaians to rally behind his government to improve the country's economic fortunes. The paper says Ghanaians should not only demand from government to fulfil its promises to improve their living standards but also do their part to enable government meet their demands. GBCONLINE
