NCA to initiate automated system to expose media houses & internet providers operating without license The National Communications Authority is initiating an automated system that will expose media houses and internet service providers operating without license. The Director General of the NCA, Joe Anokye speaking at the Public Account Commitee hearing in Accra said the current manual system is slow and make it difficult to know when the licences of media houses and internet providers expire. The NCA also lacks the technology to stop, jam or interfere in the operation of any radio station. This has made it possible for radio stations without licenses to operate for a period without being found out. Mr Anokye said the authority is embarking on a nationwide audit of all FM stations and digitise service providers. According to Mr Anokye, there are consultations with their Togolese, Ivorian and Burkinabe counterparts to regulate their spectrum from interfering with call connectivity in the country. The Managing Director of Ghana Publishing Company Limited, David Asante Boateng, during his turn at the Public Account Committee said the company is in a sorry state and needs capital to revamp it. He said the company has not been getting the 20 percent of public work, because the legal provision is not being adhered to. Mr Boateng said they are not able to compete with other e-companies because they do not have the capacity to do so. GBCONLINE
