Economics Professor says government’s decision to freeze employment in public sector wrong Head of the Economics Department of the University of Ghana, Professor Peter Quartey, says Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo's statement that government is not going to employ in the Public Sector, and the likelyhood of laying off workers in the sector is wrong. He suggests a net freeze on employment, where those who die or resign from the public sector must be replaced. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Professor Quartey said the Senior Minister must clarify the statement he made so as not to create unnecessary panic within the public sector. Meanwhile, Labour and ADR Expert, Austin Gamey, says the situation should not prevent educational institutions from training more skilled personnel for the job market. He asked these institutions to prioritize courses in entrepreneurship which he believes will shift the focus from public sector employment which is now choked. GBCONLINE
