Stakeholders Urged To Play Effective Roles To Achieve Quality Education

Stakeholders in education including parents, teachers and school management have been urged to play their roles effectively in order to achieve better quality education.

The Guest Speaker Dr. Dandy George Dampson, Department of Psychology in Education, University of Education, Winneba gave the advice at the 25th graduation ceremony of Dolly Memorial Crèche & Nursery at Labone in Accra.

He said teachers have a duty to be friendly in class teaching little children and must also be careful about the language they use because these children learn very fast adding that teachers also have a duty to provide the content which is very relevant to the formative years of the child.

Dr. Dampson advised teachers to learn to teach each child at their pace since little children take the content at their own pace
He encouraged parents to be active participants in the teaching and learning process adding that they should not be too hard on their children who did not do well at school because it is not much of the position in class but the attitude of the child in class.

Parents, he said owe it a duty to provide the right kind of nourishment for their children which is crucial to the learning development of the child to achieve quality education.

The Headmistress of the school Mrs. Evelyn Frimpong in an address said as parents and teachers we have the responsibility to equip our children with life-long skills to prepare them for adulthood adding that that was our collective responsibility as we guide and mold the leaders of tomorrow 

She said it is her vision to implement a distributive style of leadership which impacts positively on teaching style, learning, teacher-parent relationship and stakeholder involvement that will encourage a more cordial model of parent involvement.

For her part, the Municipal Chief Executive for the La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly said the government considers education so crucial to the socio-economic development of the country and that is why it is making sure that the concept of Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education policy is implemented to the fullest such that no child becomes a drop-out.

“Education, as you are in no doubt aware, should be a shared responsibility and all stakeholders including parent, teachers, government and benevolent organizations should play their roles to ensure a successful educational system in the country.
