TUC angry with government over freeze on employment in public sector

The Trades Union Congress, TUC, has rejected government's decision not to employ more people into the public sector.

Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo announced this at the National Economic Forum which started Monday in Accra.
 
The TUC said if government, who is the major employer, is not ready to execute its mandate, and then it has to empower the private sector to carry the huge unemployment burden. 

The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union of the TUC does not understand the position of government with regard to job creation and employment. 

General Secretary of the Union, Solomon Kotei said there is no excuse for government's claims that there is no space for employment in the public sector. 

One of the things the union believes government has to do to create jobs is to seriously consider the issue of the marriage between industry and academia.
