The Police has a duty to abate noise-making by making arrests and prosecuting those who violate sections 287  and 297 of the Criminal Code.  The Police is not being gratuitous when it is required to take action against bar operators and unscrupulous churches which bombard and subject residential areas to incessant and excessive noise - making. The Commissioner might mean well in offering to help the District Assemblies in carrying out their complementary mandate to check noise - making but he would do well to go over the Code and get his men to act to save our health and sanity.
