Anti- Galamsey TaskForce says it has no intention to shoot to kill during operations The Public Relations Officer of the Galamsey Taskforce, Major Gariba Pabi says it is not the intention of the Taskforce to shoot to kill in their operations. He said the unfortunate incident that happened at Wawaase near Obuasi in the Ashanti region where one person lost his life was the only unfortunate incident encountered, since deployment. Speaking to Radio Ghana, Major Pabi said the galamsey operators pelted the troops with stones and the Taskforce later heard gun shots, which prompted the Taskforce to fire warning shots into the air. He said after the situation normalised, the Task Force went in to do their checks and realised one person had been hit, but could not say if he was hit by shots from the taskforce or shots from the galamsey operators. Major Pabi said the Task Force has been to the Western and Eastern regions, where eighty persons have been arrested and some equipment destroyed. GBCONLINE
