26th July, 2017 The Daily Graphic comments on the reduction in Central Bank's policy rate from 22.5 to 21 percent. According to the paper, often times the banks make profits at the expense of other sectors of the economy. It says this is the time for banks to contribute to the development of the economy by offering lower rates to individuals and corporate entities that need funds to do businesses. It says no matter how good the macro-economic indicators look presently, high interest rates will not bring about economic growth and transformation. The Ghanaian Times is attempting to rebrand starting tomorrow. The paper says rebranding will give it a new face, to make it competitive as well as aid the paper to meet digital and modern standards. According to the Times, the rebranding will not affect its core mandate of maintaining news values with quality reports. The paper hopes its readers will embrace the new look. The Daily Heritage is worried about the untimely death of children at their tender age. The paper agrees with alarming figures released by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare that at least 90 newborn deaths are recorded daily and 21,000 death annually in health facilities in the country. According to the paper, the Director General must not only give a narrative but step up efforts to fix the problem. It appeals to expectant mothers to attend antenatal clinics regularly as well as take each day of their pregnancy seriously, to save lives of the unborn children. GBCONLINE
