Keta Sea Defence Project about 50% complete – Minister

The Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akea, says the Sea Defence Project underway in the Keta Constituency is about fifty percent complete. 

The project is to mitigate the devastating effect of tidal waves as a result of erosion of the coastline with associated destruction of livelihood and property along the Blekusu-Aflao Shoreline. 

The $40 Million project involves the construction of a Sea Defence Wall of about four-point-three Kilometres along the affected coastline involving Blekusu, Hove and their environs within the Keta Municipality of the Volta Region. 

The Minister stated this on the Floor of Parliament when he appeared to answer a question posed by the MP for Keta Richard Quarshigah on the present stage of the Blekusu-Horvi Sea Defence Project.

The Trade and industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, was also in the House to respond to a question posed by the MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the Progress of work on the private participation in the Volta Star Textile Limited at Juapong in the Volta Region. 

He said the Ministry in consultation with a transaction advisor has decided to abrogate an earlier contract with Bullion Group Consortium to re-open the tender process to potential investors.
