Minority bemoans lack of serious business in Parliament

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has expressed concern about the lack of serious public business in the House for the lawmakers to undertake. 

According to the Minority Chief Whip, Alhaji Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, it appears the MPs are wasting public time and resources coming to the House without any serious work to undertake. 

Speaking to the Parliamentary Press Corp shortly after the House adjourned sitting, Alhaji Muntaka said apart from the approval of the 2017 Budget Statement and the message on the State of the Nation delivered by President Akufo-Addo to the House all other works done in the House since the Commencement of the New Parliament have been Statements on the Floor by the MPs.

The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said there are serious matters being worked on which will be brought to the House for consideration. 

He asked the Minority to brace themselves up to face reality as same issue of lack of business in the House happened during their time in government.
