TUC asks government to end IMF deal

The Trades Union Congress has asked government to end the three-year Extended Credit Facility with the IMF. 
 
The Union says it still holds the view that the IMF-sponsored austerity measures will not help the country achieve the policies outlined in the 2017 Budget. 

This is contained in a statement signed by its Secretary General Dr. Yaw Baah.

The statement urged government to work towards ending the programme as soon as possible and consider the ratification of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Convention 122 (1964) concerning Employment and Economic Development Policy to guide the country's social and economic development.
 
The statement focused on the mid -year review of the socio-Economic and political situation in Ghana.
 
It also touched on issues such as Employment Creation, Politicisation of the Public Service, Working Conditions, Illegal and Irresponsible Mining, Privatisation of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) among others and tabled critical areas government should focus on and work towards achieving positive trends.
