Parliament approves budget for Local Government Ministry Parliament has approved 321.8 million Ghana Cedis for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development for its activities for the years. The sector Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama told Parliament before its approval that the money will go into mobilizing committee and improving local government development initiatives. She said they will be strengthening property address systems. She said the plan is to end donor support to the Ministry will end by end of the year. The Minority Leader, Haruna Idrissu took issue with the percentage of total revenue to fund the district assembly common fund. He said the minority will fall on the Supreme Court for interpretation. The Deputy Majority Leader, Sarah Adwoa Safo saw the plan by the Ministry to computerize births and deaths registry as a laudable move. GBC
