Trading activities around the market circle in Takoradi halted Trading activities around the market circle in Takoradi in the Western Region have been halted by the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly. This follows an ultimatum given to the traders to relocate into the market or to the Apremdo market. Yesterday, hundreds of traders were forcibly ejected by the Sekondi-Takoradi Metro Guards. The move did not go down well with the traders who were made to believe they could ply their trade on pavements , outer perimeter of the market circle as well as other unapproved places in the run up to the 2016 general election. Some of the women spoke to Radio Ghana. The Public Relations Officer of STMA says the exercise will be sustained contrary to public perceptions that it will be a nine day wonder. Pedestrians and drivers believe the move is in the right direction. This is because the usual vehicular and human traffic in the area has eased. Some residents also appealed to the Assembly to sustain the exercise. GBC
