Piracy remains a global threat to maritime security- Kamal Deen Executive Director of the Centre for Maritime Law and Security Captain Kamal Deen says piracy remains a global threat to maritime security particularly in the gulf of Guinea. He told Radio Ghana that because the sea is very secluded vessels are vulnerable and at the mercy of pirates. Captain Kamal Deen, said the Ghana Navy is lucky to have some platform to manage its maritime security. On the refugees situation Captain Kamal Deen said within the last five years almost ten thousand Africans have lost their lives trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe. He attributed the causes to poverty but advised the youth to look at opportunities in the country to avoid preventable death. GBC
