GMA Predicts More Rain Storms And Strong Winds From Next Month The Ghana Meteorological Agency has predicted the early onset of rains this year. Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Chief Forecaster at the Agency, Kafui Quashigah, said there will be more rain amidst thunder and strong winds starting from next month. But he said the strength of the storms will reduce towards the major raining season between April and July. Mr. Quashigah, said an official statement will be issued by close of the week on this year's rainfall pattern. Mr. Quashigah advised the public not to take refuge from rainstorms under trees due to the accompanying strong winds. Mr. Quashigah also cautioned motorists against speeding during rainstorms and use fog lights when their visibility is impaired. The AMA says it is working feverishly towards reducing floods in Accra this year. Speaking to Radio Ghana, the PRO of the AMA, Numo Blafo, said desilting of some drains in the capital is still on going. He, however appealed to District Assemblies and the public to assist in the desilting of drains. Numo Blafo also asked the public to desist from throwing refuse into drains to help reduce flooding as the rains set in. Numo Blafo said, the AMA has earmarked some drains to be reconstructed but funding for the project is delaying it. He advised people living in flood prone areas to evacuate to higher grounds when it is raining. GBC
