Roads Ministry Debunks Reports Eastern Corridor Project Is Halted

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Godwin Brocke, says it is not true that the construction of the Eastern Corridor roads have been halted as a result of the change of government. 

There have been recent reports that some contractors working on the eastern corridor roads were seen evacuating their equipment from the site due to a change in administration. 

Some commentators accused the current government of abrogating the contracts for political reasons. 

The Chief Director at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Godwin Brocke in an interview with Radio Savannah in Tamale however, said the construction works have been halted because government has run out of funding. 

He said the Brazilian government which was funding portions of the road withdrew its support following the recent change of government in Brazil. 

He said the ministry is working hard to secure funding for the contractors to resume work.
