25th February 2017 The Daily Graphic is saddened by the current state of the Trade Fair Centre. The magnificent edifice which was built four decades ago to host local and international fairs is now in ruins. According to the paper, a greater part of the centre has been overtaken by weeds, making it a haven for reptiles. The paper says the managerial staff of the centre should have found means to generate revenue to pay its staff as well as task some workers to keep the centre in good shape at all times. It urges the general public to halt the poor maintenance culture to avoid more decay in the public sector. The Ghanaian Times writes on the unfortunate xenophobic attacks in South Africa which comes as a shock to the rest of world. It says the attacks are manifestations of uncontrollable anger and discontentment as well as the apparent state of hopelessness dawning on the youth in that country. The situation represents an unfolding drama of unemployment challenges and economic hardship. With Nigerians having already staged a protest against the attacks, there is the need for the South African government to check the attacks and prevent them from spreading. The Times urges the South African government to implement a smooth and rapid growth-oriented economic recovery program with special focus on youth employment. The times appeals to other African governments not to take hasty decisions aimed at retaliating but rather resort to positive and constructive engagements as well as skillful diplomacy with the south African government to resolve the situation.
