Minerals Commission calls for tax exemptions on mining

Chief Executive of the Minerals Commission, Dr Tony Aubyn is calling for tax exemptions for companies at the exploration stage of the mining process. He says when prices of metals fall, taxes make it uncompetitive for investors in Ghana's mining industry. Neighbouring countries - Burkina Faso and Cote d'Ivoire have scrapped taxes on exploration making them attractive for new investors.
