Low patronage characterises this Years' Valentine's Day celebration

February the 14th is the day when people show their love to friends and family members, especially through the exchange of gifts like chocolate.

This enables traders to do brisk business in products suitable for the occasion. 

To find out more about the preparedness of people for Valentine's Day, Daniel Donkor hit the streets of Sunyani, the Brong-Ahafo regional capital.
 
He reports that the euphoria is fading as traders complained of low sales in Valentine related items.

A visit to the Kwame Nkrumah circle revealed that the Euphoria over the celebration of Valentine's Day is on a low key this year. 
 
People were seen going about their normal activities devoid of the red colour that characterized the day in time past.
 
Some members of the public who spoke to Radio Ghana said purchasing of the usual Valentine's Day paraphernalia is low.

Some traders had mixed feeling about the sale of Valentine related items, but were hopeful of better sales later in the day.

Meanwhile the Executive Director, Youth for Christ Ghana of the EP Church, Madina, Rev. Godwin Amuzu has called on the youth to eschew immoral activities as Ghana joins the world to celebrate Valentine's Day.

He said the youth are influenced by the negative aspects of the western culture due to the emergence of social media.

Speaking to Radio Ghana ahead of a youth programme today, Rev. Amuzu advised the youth to take inspiration from the elderly to safeguard their future.
