UK Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson Begins 2-day Visit To Ghana And The Gambia Today

UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Boris Johnson will  meet with  President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and The Gambia President, Adama Barrow on a two day trip to West Africa. 

He will meet the two Heads of State to discuss key opportunities and challenges facing each country. 

In Ghana, Mr. Johnson will visit the award-winning Blue Skies company, meet business leaders and young entrepreneurs supported by the Department for International Development’s ENGINE project.

In the Gambia, Boris Johnson will visit the UK-funded Medical Research Council and speak to Chevening scholars, employees and employers in the tourism industry. 

Ahead of the visit, Mr. Boris said he is delighted to be the first Foreign Secretary to meet the newly elected President  President Akufo-Addo of Ghana and also delighted to visit The Gambia. 

He said the election of the two Heads, highlight the continuous strengthening of democracy in West Africa. 

He expressed his delight on the decision of the Gambia to rejoin the Commonwealth.
