Traditional leaders cautioned against dabbling in partisan politics

The President of the National House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede, has apologised on behalf of all traditional leaders in the country who flouted the Code of Ethics of the chieftaincy institution to dabble in partisan politics especially in the run up to the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Togbe Afede, who is also the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, cautioned such leaders against repeating the action in future.
 
He was speaking at the first general meeting of the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi.

Togbe Afede said the Code of Ethics of chiefs will be reviewed to ensure they comply with the injunction not to take active part in partisan politics.

Togbe Afede commended all stakeholders in Ghana's electoral process including the EC, the media and political parties for contributing towards a peaceful and successful election in December last year as well as the smooth transition from the previous government to the current one.
