Parliament Amends Local Gov't Bill With Discretionary Powers To President Parliament has paased the local government amendment bill 2017 to restore the President's diiscretionary power to revoke the appointment of government appointees to District Assemblies as provided for in article 249 *of the constitution. Article two four two of the constitution states that the president's appointees to the assembly must not be more than 30 percent of all the members of the assembly. Following its passage, Radio Ghana spoke to the Minister of local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama. She said the amendment does not affect the appointment of MMDCEs. GBC
