Interior Minister Designate Promises Strict Compliance To Law If Approved The Minister designate for the Interior, Ambrose Dery has promised strict compliance with the law by security agencies under his ministry if Parliament approves his nomination. He made the promise today when he appeared before the Appointments Committee of Parliament for vetting. Responding to a question on the seeming impunity by officials of the Bureau of National Investigation ( BNI) he said security agencies are not above the law and must always operate within the law. On an alleged attempt by the Prison Service Council to sell the Prison Service facility at Cantonment in Accra Mr. Dery said he was not aware of the issue and will look into it when given the nod. On the need for adequate security for Members of Parliament and all citizens in the country Hon Ambruce Dery promised to ensure that citizens are always safe. He also responded to questions on the formation of Vigilante groups by some political parties, the need for the passage of the Narcotics Commission Bill and whether Private Security service providers should be allowed to carry guns. On Monday, the Committee will also vet Minister-designate for Local Government & Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, Minister-designate for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Minister-designate for Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Minister-designate for Energy, Boakye Agyarko.
