AFCON 2017: Black Stars must work hard to win tournament - Panelists

Sports Analyst and Commentator, Henry Asante Twum says it will be difficult for the Black Stars to win the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.  

He said looking at the current team and its style of play; it will be difficult for the team to win the ultimate prize.  

Speaking on our Current Affairs Programme "FOCUS'" which discussed the AFCON tournament in Gabon and the performance of the Black Stars in their opening match against Uganda, Mr. Asante-Twum said the commitment level and spirit of patriotism which are the ingredients needed to fuel the engine to win such competition are missing in the current Black Stars Squad

Deputy Head of Sports of Radio Ghana, George Kenneth Lartey, said the Black Stars have a lot of work to do to win the AFCON.  

He said though winning is achievable, the Stars have to play above themselves to achieve that feat.

Mr. Lartey praised Gabon for staging an impressive opening ceremony.  

He said despite the social and political upheaval, Gabon has been impressive at hosting the tournament. 

Sports Commentator with GBC's Radio Ghana, Benjamin Willie Graham said, those calling for change of the time of hosting the tournament, do not have a case.  

He said the AFCON is the pride of Africa and nobody can or should dictate to Africans when to host the competition.
