Burial rites of late Asantehemaa, Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem enters second day Former Presidents John Mahama and Jerry John Rawlings will today join dignitaries at the Manhyia Palace to mark the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem. Members of the National House of Chiefs are also expected to be at the palace today to take part in the late Asantehemaa’s burial rites as the four-day event enters day two. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday joined hundreds of mourners and well-wishers to pay their last respect to the late Asantehemaa, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The first of the four-day burial rites for the late Asantehemaa and biological mother of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu saw the mourners file past the body before paying homage to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu, who is also the Chief Mourner. He arrived at the Manhyia Palace at about 11 am to pay his last respect to the mother before sitting in State to receive well-wishers. GBC
